The Hyperion Class AIDAprima will be the first cruise ship to use MHI's proprietary technology Mitsubishi Air Lubrication System (MALS). The system forms small air bubbles, which cover the bottom of the vessel like an "air carpet", thereby reducing friction between the hull and seawater when sailing. MALS reduces carbon dioxide and fuel consumption by approximately 7%. The ship will also be fitted with a detailed filter system, which will reduce harmful emissions such as soot particles, nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide. The new cruise ship will feature 1,643 staterooms of 14 different categories to accommodate up to 3,300 passengers. The luxurious Veranda staterooms vary in size, from 20m² to 2,520m², and feature walk-in closets, two bathrooms and a convertible sofa. They also have a 6m² sunning area with space for up to two sun loungers. Deck eight of the vessel will feature Lanai staterooms, which will feature a winter garden and a large veranda. The doors to the winter garden in the rooms can be opened all the way to create a 32m² of open, sunny area. AIDAprima's 36 Panorama staterooms provide exclusive access to a new patio deck, housing the bar, a protected sunny area and a private water landscape. The 32 suites on-board the ship will have 53m² of living space with up to 82m² of private sun deck. Each suite will feature a separate bedroom, a king size sofa bed, two bathrooms and a walk-in closet. Company Meyer Werft gained international recognition through the construction of roll on/roll off ferries, passenger ferries, gasoline tankers, container ships, livestock ferries and most recently luxury cruise ships. Meyer is one of the largest and most modern shipyards in the world with 2500 employees, and home to the by far largest roofed dry docks in the world. The first covered dock was inaugurated in 1987 and was 370 meters long, 101,5 meters wide and 60 meters high. In 1990/91 the dock was extended by an additional 100 meters. In 2000, a second covered dock was built, which is announced to be extended to a full length of 504 meters, a width of 125 meters and height of 75 meters in order to compete with Asian shipyards. Meyer Werft will as a result of this be able to build three cruise ships a year. Due to its upstream location on the river Ems, the giant ships to be delivered have to make a 36 km voyage to the Dollart bay and which each time attracts thousands of spectators. Up until the completion of the Ems river barrier ("Emssperrwerk") in 2002, the journey was only possible at high tides. In August 2014, Meyer Werft and the Government of Finland agreed to acquire STX Finland and the Turku shipyard from STX Europe (STX Finland's other shipyards in Helsinki and Rauma were previously sold to other buyers). The Turku shipyard is an important builder of cruise ships, and five of the 10 largest cruise ships in the world have been built there. The shipyard, which will be 70% owned by Meyer Werft and 30% owned by the state-owned Finnish Industry Investment, will be renamed from STX Finland Oy to Meyer Turku Shipyard Oy. As of 2014, current cruise liner projects include the Quantum class of cruise ships for Royal Caribbean International and the Breakaway Plus class of ships for Norwegian Cruise Line.

The double 500-kilogram (1,100 lb) warhead called Mephisto (Multi-Effect Penetrator, HIgh Sophisticated and Target Optimised) features a precharge and initial penetrating charge to clear soil or enter a bunker, then a variable delay fuze to control detonation of the main warhead. The missile weighs about 1,400 kg (3,100 lb) and has a maximum body diameter of 1 metre (3.3 ft). Intended targets are hardened bunkers, command, control and communications; airfield facilities; port facilities; AMS/ammunition storage; ships in ports/at sea and bridges. The missile also includes counter measures as a self-defence mechanism. Mission planners program the missile with the target, air defence locations and planned ground path, then the missile uses a low terrain-hugging flight path guided by INS, IBN, TRN and GPS to the proximity of the target, although it is capable of navigating over long distances without GPS support.[6] Once there the missile commences a bunt (climb) manoeuvre to an altitude intended to achieve the best probability of target acquisition and penetration. During the cruise flight a high resolution thermographic camera (infrared homing) can support the navigation by using IBN and is also used for GPS-free target attack. The missile attempts to match a camera image with the planned 3D target model (DSMAC). If it cannot, it defaults to the other navigation systems, or, if there is a high risk of collateral damage, it will steer to a pre-designated crash point instead of risking an inaccurate attack with undesired consequences. Taurus Systems GmbH has also proposed an anti-ship variant.[7] Export[edit] Spain's military bought 43 missiles. The integration of the Taurus in the Spanish Air Force service line has been certified by the successful completion of a dedicated test campaign in South Africa, carried out in May 2009.[8] South Korea planned to order 200 missiles to integrate with their F-15K Slam Eagles after being refused Lockheed Martin's AGM-158 JASSM by Washington.[9] The Korean National Assembly had advised the government to re-evaluate plans to buy the KEPD 350 citing high costs.[10] The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) signed the deal in November 2013. Taurus Systems will open an office in Seoul to handle various acquisition tasks and support technology-transfer and joint development of the next cruise missile. The office is will be the company's first outside of Germany, and the KEPD 350 is the first European missile to be integrated onto a Korean fighter aircraft.[11] Taurus Systems GmbH has offered Taurus KEPD 350 to the Indian Air Force for its Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets.
